While living in Kansas City and working at Belger Crane Yard, I had the pleasure to work alongside artist, Katherine Moes. At the studio, Katherine created a range of functional and sculptural work. She was developing cairns - thrown, stacking forms - and was experimenting with shape, surface, and scale. After admiring each other’s work for some time, we discussed a collaboration in which Katherine would throw cairns for me to draw on. The cairns allowed me to think about the head and body in new ways. Here is the result of our collaboration, which was launched in 2023.
